Roosevelt Junior High mural depicting the school name and Rough Rider logo on side of building inside the campus

Roosevelt Junior High is the largest junior high in Modesto City Schools, and it is growing for a reason. Known as the Rough Riders, Roosevelt students are encouraged to discover who they are, build confidence, and prepare for what comes next.

The Rough Riders' name comes from President Theodore Roosevelt and the volunteer cavalry regiment he led during the Spanish–American War. Just like their namesake, Roosevelt students are known for their courage, determination, and teamwork. These qualities shine in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.

With honors courses in every core subject, hands-on learning in robotics and design, and a wide variety of electives and athletics, Roosevelt offers opportunities for every student to shine. Whether in academics, sports, or creative pathways, students are supported to explore their interests and reach their goals.

At Roosevelt, character matters. Students learn to lead, serve, and support one another in a community that celebrates belonging. It is more than a school. It is a place where students are seen, supported, and inspired to succeed.

This is Roosevelt Junior High. It is where you belong!
